According to a new study by HotelsCombined.com, a leading hotel search engine, Dubai is projected to be one of the top five international tourist destinations for US travelers.  HotelsCombined.com has a database of more than 200,000 hotels from 195 countries.  This year Dubai made the top ten list of favorite international destinations, up from 33rd position for international cities at the same time last year.

Hichame Assi, Head of Marketing for Online Marketing at HotelsCombined.com, said “We are seeing steady monthly increases and predict Dubai will be ranked within the top five cities for 2011.”   Dubai has emerged as the second most expensive tourist destination, costing US tourists an average of $227 for a hotel room per night (Dh833).  Assi said average room rates for hotels around the world is 46.3 percent higher in 2010 at $198.67, up from $135.76 in 2009, and “We believe this room rate increase will continue in 2011.”
